Somaliland plans to digitize the government’s operations in the country.
The government set up a committee that is charged for the task
In the 43rd Session of the Somaliland Cabinet, which was chaired by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, along with Vice President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Saylici), was discussed the implementation of the Somaliland E-government system.
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, presented the Council of Ministers, on Thursday, with the introduction of the E-government, a fast and efficient program that transforms all government services into a modern, digital systems.
Official statement from the Presidential palace said the new system will contribute to economic development, social service provision, technology access, job transparency, decentralization of government and limiting current government spending on technology. It also said that the electronic systems will facilitate the storing and maintaining public data security and provide smooth coordination of all government agencies and ministries.
The E-Government implementation program will be the first to be implemented in the Republic of Somaliland, reflecting Somaliland’s advanced status in the world of modern technology.
The Statement also said that the Council of Ministers has decided to put a committee on the implementation of the E-Government, that all public sector institutions should have their own technology departments as well as introducing the ICT education curriculum in the country.
The Government says that this plan was part of the Kulmiye party’s political program, and in line with the second national development plan.
